Fruit exports from South America are gaining importance
Fruit export is an important component of the income of many countries around the world. In recent years, South American countries have gained a strong position. They export not only tropical fruits but are increasingly competitive in fruits that are also produced in Europe and the United States.
The export of fruits from South American countries is gaining importance. It raises the question of whether countries outside the European Union are strategically preparing to take over markets that are still currently held by producers from the EU. All indications suggest that the European Green Deal will lead to a reduction in agricultural production, including fruit growing, within the EU. Southern Hemisphere countries will then take our place on the markets with their production.
