Fruit Export from Chile

 In Uncategorized

This country is one of the largest fruit exporters in the world. In the current ongoing season, fruit exports are about 8% higher than during the same period of the previous season. From September 2021 to mid-January 2022, Chile exported 708.7 thousand tons of fruit to global markets.

The most important fruits exported by Chile were cherries, with 291.5 thousand tons sent to foreign markets. Other significant exports included avocado (97.2 thousand tons), mandarins (87.8 thousand tons), apples (70.4 thousand tons), blueberries (55.4 thousand tons), oranges (25.7 thousand tons), and grapes (17.4 thousand tons).

The largest volume of fruit sales from this country is directed to the Far East, which accounts for 43% of Chile’s total export volume. The main recipient in that region is China, which receives the majority of the fruit shipped overseas. So far, 301.8 thousand tons have been sent to those markets, representing a decline of 4.75%. One of the reasons for this decrease is freight costs, which have risen by 30–40%.

The next export destination is the United States, accounting for 25%, or 177.6 thousand tons. The growth in exports to this market is impressive, as it increased by 54.6%. Meanwhile, 114.9 thousand tons, or 16% of exports, were sent to other South American countries. Following that were Europe (106.9 thousand tons, 15%), Canada (6,354 tons), and the Middle East (1,142 tons).
